Climate changes are part of Earth’s geological history. However, since the Industrial Revolution the combustion of fossil fuels and industrial processes have been releasing into the atmosphere increasing tons of CO2. This increase has intensified the trend towards Earth’s global warming, to acidification and, consequently, the reduction of oxygen levels in the ocean, resulting in significant losses of biodiversity, changes in the geographic distribution of diverse species and decrease in the resilience of marine ecosystems.
